Gensler's £330m 'Doughnut' spies' HQ gets the nod

  • Comment

Ministers last week gave the green light to Gensler & Associates' massive new gchq spy base building in Cheltenham and construction work will start within weeks.

It will take four years to complete the new £330 million building, which is the size of Wembley Stadium and is circular, nicknamed the Millennium Doughnut. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office will sign contracts with construction and services consortium Integrated Accommodation Services (ias) in the next few days for the private finance initiative scheme. Work on the site should be finished in early 2003.
