Gehry gets the boot

It looks like Zaha Hadid finally has some competition in the architect-designed-footwear arena

After designing jewellery for Tiffany & Co, Frank Gehry has now moved up a fashion rung by designing these boots for French shoemaker J.M. Weston’s autumn/winter collection in 2009.

Of the project, Gehry said that architects ‘shouldn’t have to differentiate between disciplines, shoes are very architectural and always have been’. Astragal’s already on the waiting list.

  • A bit like Alexander McQueen 'designing' a copy Regency House. Having feet on the end of your legs (and/or being an architect) is not a fait accompli to creating a great shoe design is it?
