Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi looked set for sainthood last week when it emerged this week that the Vatican is to start an investigation into whether the renowned architect should be canonised. Rome has given the go-ahead for the Congregation for Investigations into Sainthood to gather evidence about the man. Gaudi was a devout Christian and expressed his faith in his designs for the Barcelona church, La Sagrada Familia. He died in 1926.
