Funding has now been secured for Arup Associates' Commonwealth Games stadium for Manchester, which will be one component of a 'Sportcity' embracing the FaulknerBrowns-designed Velodrome, a new £10 million sports academy and £3.5 million indoor tennis centre. The £90 million, 45-50,000- seat permanent stadium is being supported by £77 million of Sports Council money, with £13 million from the city council. Lobb Sports Architecture is technical adviser on the stadium, which is to be built at Eastlands, named as the City of Manchester Stadium and be the future home of Manchester City fc.
