Foster's South East Asia schemes go on show

  • Comment

Foster + Partners has released these images of its latest schemes in South East Asia ahead of a forthcoming show in Malaysia.

The London-headquartered practice is staging the Art of Architecture exhibition at Galeri Petronas in Kuala Lumpur from 7 March to 12 May 2013.

Included in the show will be snapshots of projects hot off the drawing board or already underway in Malaysia such as the 6 acre Arcoris Mont’Kiara mixed-use development; and IB Tower, a 58-storey skyscraper in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city centre.

This will be the first major display of the studio’s work to be held in South-east Asia.

The event will follow the themes of infrastructure, high-rise, urban design, history, culture and sustainability.

David Nelson, the practice’s head of design said: ‘[We have] been working in South East Asia for nearly twenty years on a diverse range of projects, from Singapore Supreme Court to the Troika towers in Kuala Lumpur and the Aga Khan Award-winning campus for Petronas University at Seri Iskandar.

‘The region continues to be an important, growing market and our practice has an established local base. This exhibition is an opportunity to introduce our work and the studio’s approach to the people of Kuala Lumpur.’

Schemes elsewhere in the world – from the Millau Viaduct in France to the eco-city at Masdar, Abu Dhabi – will also be represented.

In January, AJ reported that Foster + Partners was to design a research and development facility in South Korea for Hankook Tire.
