Foster + Partners’ founder Norman Foster has been awarded the AJ120 20 Years of Excellence Award for the practice’s contribution to British architecture during the past two decades
More from: Foster tops AJ120 for fourth year in a row
To celebrate the AJ’s two anniversaries this year - our 120th birthday and 20 years of the AJ100 – we have created a special award to recognise 20 years of excellence in the competitive world of big business architecture and urban design.
Who, we asked ourselves – the jury for this award was the AJ editorial team – has made the biggest contribution to British architecture these past two decades? The answer was unanimous: Norman Foster.
But it’s not just the AJ’s editors who feel this way. You do, too.
As well as seeing his practice, Foster + Partners, top the chart for the fourth consecutive year, Foster himself has also been voted the working architect most admired by all the other firms participating in the AJ’s annual chart countdown for eight years running.
Foster, a design pioneer with a slew of awards at the highest level, also happens to lead a very successful, thriving workplace. In this way he embodies what most architects strive to achieve: great design and commercial success.
