Formulas do allow fully planar geodesic systems

  • Comment

With reference to Alex Chablo's letter (AJ 3/10.8.00), we would not profess to be experts in the formulas of topology. However, it is our understanding that the Pavlov method does allow the creation of a fully planar geodesic system, comprising hexagons and pentagons, although the size of the hexagons is restricted.

At the Eden project we have large hexagons, and we have allowed a nonplanarity of up to 60mm for each single hexagon. The relatively flexible nature of the ETFE cladding can accommodate this non-planarity.
