Belgo Zuid Restaurant
The architectural concept was based around a roof shape resembling a plate of mussels, one of Belgo Restaurants'most famous dishes. By introducing a series of curves and making the wall and roof a single element, the design resolves critical issues such as the interfaces with neighbours and lighting. The structural solution uses low technology, combining stressed-skin plywood shells stiffened by steel ribs which continue down to the ground to support the walls.
