First look: Davy Smith Architects' Digby Road

  • Comment

Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects have just been granted planning permission for this 97-unit affordable housing scheme

The affordable scheme, which meets the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Lifetime Homes, Code Level Three and revised Part M standards, will sit on the currently disused trianglar site on Digby Road, Hackney.

The accommodation rises from five storeys at park-bordering end of the site, to a 14 storey tower next to Homerton Overground Station, which is two stops away from the Olympic site.

The £14.9 million scheme has an undulating green roof, which will provide outdoor space for inhabitants at sixth-floor level. The teracotta cladding is also complimented by a green-walling system.
