RIBA president-elect George Ferguson is to lead a review of the presidential election process and has spelt out that commercial sponsorship of candidates will not be allowed. The 'rule of engagement' - to be heard at RIBA council on 17 July - is a direct reference to Ferguson's chief rival in the election, Annette Fisher, who attempted to campaign using funds from companies. Suggested reforms include nominations coming from at least half of the regions and no more than half from any one region, and Internet voting.
