AJ Kiosk: Foreward

Bahadır Kayan, chairman, Turkishceramics Promotion Group

Turkishceramics is delighted to collaborate with The Architects’ Journal on the Kiosk design project. As the promotion group for more than 30 Turkish ceramic manufacturers, we are proud of the heritage of ceramics in Turkey and how this material has been an integral part of our architectural heritage.

The brief for the Kiosk design challenge asked participants to use contemporary Turkish ceramic products in new, innovative ways and it’s fascinating to see how such a talented group of designers approach this task. After welcoming six very different architectural practices to Istanbul last year as part of the research for this project, we are excited to see how they have reinterpreted the typology of the kiosk for 21st century London.
