EPR submits Nestlé Tower revamp plans

[First look + plans] EPR has submitted a planning application to overhaul St George’s House in Croydon

The AJ100 practice has worked up plans for a residential-led transformation of the iconic Ronald Ward and Partners-designed building which is known locally as NestléTower.

EPR director Jason Balls said the proposal reflected local ‘Croydon-ness’ by responding to the area’s details and textures.

Submitted to Croydon Council, the 28-storey development for Legal & General transforms the disused office building into 288 residential apartments with 270m² of community uses.

The 1964 tower’s existing frame – comprising 6 metre-wide bays – will be retained and extended with an additional three floors. EPR’s façade design features an anodised aluminium frame with metallic-finish Trespa panels.

Simon Wilkes, head of business space development at Legal & General said: ‘The proposals for St George’s House are designed to bring much needed high quality residential accommodation to the centre of Croydon. The investment will also see a significant improvement in the public realm to create a more accessible and attractive civic space for residents and visitors to enjoy.’
