Environmental pros and cons must be considered

  • Comment

We are writing in response to an article regarding the work we are currently undertaking at the Royal Institute of British Architects (AJ 22.7.00).

We have been the RIBA's house architects for a number of years and, as the article correctly points out, we are presently undertaking an energy audit of the building with Max Fordham and Partners. As with all listed buildings, any practical proposals that may affect the existing fabric have to be fully considered.

We are however, very committed to the environmental issues that the RIBA is championing, and we fully endorse the efforts being made by them to raise both public awareness and that of our profession.
