Work to rectify the infamous 'wobble' of Lord Foster's Millennium Bridge began last week with UK bridge builder Cleveland Bridge preparing to install passive dampers along its 320m span.

Engineer Arup announced that the bridge would be open before Christmas. The bridge has been closed for almost a year after heavy pedestrian traffic caused it to sway and throw people off balance. Prototype testing was completed by Arup before Christmas last year.

The bill for fixing the 'wobble'of the £18 million bridge is expected to be borne by Arup.
