Elsie Owusu leaves Feilden + Mawson

  • Comment

Feilden + Mawson partner Elsie Owusu has left the practice after nearly 10 years

Owusu, who was awarded an OBE for services to architecture in 2003, will continue to work on her own projects both in the UK and Ghana under the banner of Elsie Owusu Architects.

The reasons for her departure are unclear.

However, Owusu told the AJ that the £21 million Kumasi City Hall project in Ghana (pictured), which she was working with in collaboration with Feilden + Mawson, would now be led by her practice.

The scheme was recently approved by the Ghanaian government and Owusu met mayor Bonsu of Kumasi and the scheme’s Chinese contractor Hai Hong earlier this week.

This summer Owusu was named among 12 RIBA Role Models as part of a project to change the perceptions of architecture and architects (read more here).

Feilden + Mawson was unavailable for comment.
