English Heritage has helped drive through some ofthe world's finest London designs by Foster and Rogers, said Sir Jocelyn Stevens this week in his swansong as EH chairman.Sir Jocelyn said the capital was seen to be mired in opposition to forward-looking design until recently.'In the 1980s I asked Foster and Rogers why this was,and they said it was largely because ofthe planning process and English Heritage. But now we have around 20 schemes by them in London and the city has become the best in the world for architecture.English Heritage must win some credit for this.'
