Edinburgh gets £100m scheme by Calton Hill

  • Comment

Allan Murray Architects is waiting for the go-ahead from planners for a £100 million hotel, leisure and office scheme linking to Edinburgh's Calton Hill.

The Greenside Place development will comprise two parts: a 22,500m2 four- floor leisure development with a 60-bed hotel and 12-screen Warner Village cinema, with a roof garden overlooked by Calton Hill, and 19,000m2 of offices over eight floors. The two parts will be linked by a piazza. A bridge will link the scheme to Calton Hill.

Ian Tyndall will landscape the new buildings, by developer Greenside Projects. The planners are expected to decide in May, and building work could start by the year's end for a 2001 finish.
