Scottish devolution minister Henry McLeish hinted this week that Edinburgh is favourite over Glasgow to house the interim Scottish Parliament. Suggested sites are the capital's Calton Hill or Church of Scotland's Assembly Hall, or Glasgow's Strathclyde House, a former council office in Glasgow. Scottish Secretary Donald Dewar has the final say in the matter. Meanwhile, the design for the 60-seat Welsh Assembly building will go to competition . Favoured sites are Cardiff 's Pierhead and Bute Square.
