Economy in all things - especially buying books

It was good that Richard Weston, in his review of the reprint of HervÚ's photographs of Le Thoronet (AJ 2/9.8.01), referred to Fernand Pouillon's Les Pierres Sauvages, remarking on its 'beautiful' descriptions of architectural detail. I too would commend that book to AJ readers, but add that we do not need to be as well versed as Weston in French: Jonathan Cape published it in 1970 (with a few HervÚ photos) entitled The Stones of Le Thoronet - and it repays a search in second-hand bookshops!
