news

Bennetts Associates has been forced to re-apply for appointment as architect on a project on which it has been working for more than two years. City University has advertised in the Official Journal of the European Community for a new architect to design its business school in Islington (aj 2.7.98), despite being near to achieving detailed planning consent for a scheme designed by Bennetts Associates. Rab Bennetts said, 'We are getting on extremely well with City University and there is no suggestion that it wants to change architects.' The university has been advised it must advertise in order to comply with ec competition policy.

Blee Ettwein Bridges has restored 50 St James' Street in London, the capital's only purpose-built casino. The £4 million job took a year to transform the 1827 building into a private gaming club. Interior design was by Robert Lush Associates.
