DONCASTER COMMUNITY STADIUM

UK ARCHITECTURE - SUSTAINABILITY

A number of measures have been incorporated into this scheme for a 20,000-seat stadium on a greenfield site:

? rainwater from the large roof expanse is used as a grey-water supply to the extensive WC facilities;

? ancillary facilities are heated and cooled by means of a heat pump which uses the lake as a source;

? the undercroft to each stand takes on a separate use during non-match days - this approach has been used successfully on other stadia by AND Architects, such as Charlton Athletic FC's Valley ground; and ? during the week, one stand is used as a public gym and college facility. These multi-functional buildings avoid the construction of entirely separate buildings and provide valuable revenue.
