A huge Henry Moore-type sculpture of an embracing man and woman is to go in the Millennium Dome and will contain more exhibits than originally planned, project leaders have revealed.
The abstract steel-framed figure, 64m long and 30m wide, will have lifts, escalators, pools, exhibitions and light shows on genetics, nutrition and the body. The torso will have a greater spread than previous designs because the figure will be reclining rather than sitting upright. The design has evolved from a Britannia figure, to a mother and child, to this final form.
New Millennium Experience Company said it was finalising a major sponsorship deal for the sculpture. It will channel 3500 people per hour through the designw by hp:icm.
