Distressed gentlefolk

Architect David Le Lay, chairman of the Chelsea Residents' Association, hosted the recent meeting to discuss King's Road and its environs, once the home of 1960s cool but now crowded out by high-street multiples just like everywhere else. He once rented a room, in the Conran and Quant days, for £4.10s.0d, but now a small flat costs closer to £500 a week. But I do wonder whether the 'distressed' look is still fashionable as I later pass by Le Lay's own shopfront office in Old Church Street.
