Astragal (AJ 7.9.00) describes the designer of the new sundial in Greenwich Park as 'a stripling of 66'.
Why does he not also tell us his preferred breakfast food, the colour of his pyjamas or something equally irrelevant? I, a lesser stripling of 72, have learnt that if you have nothing to say, don't say it.
Incidentally, it is a pity more architects, landscape and other, have not appreciated the value of sundials. They are both decorative and educational, and, like fountains, provide a great talking point or focus. I will gladly assist anyone out there who needs help and advice on the subject - even Astragal himself.
