Amid all the debate preceding the transmutation of arcuk to arb, one issue generated great interest and stimulated much correspondence, particularly among the smallest practices and part-time practitioners. That was the nature and costs of pii and its impact on those with fluctuating, low levels of fee income.
Numerous creative solutions were submitted and, for a time at least, it appeared possible that the insurance businesses might contribute constructively to the resolution, with sensibly adjusted premiums for appropriate cover.
Now arb is born, its codes of conduct and practice issued and we, the small fry, have been ignored yet again on this issue. Where to now? Has everybody been silenced? The problem has not evaporated, only been exacerbated! There must be some entrepreneurial insurance companies and brokers out there who see the potential in this market, created by arb in its infinite wisdom. As one such part-time practitioner, wishing to continue within this 'new' framework, I would appreciate hearing from any such companies who are willing and able to submit realistic proposals.
