Design Museum seeks design team for its new home

The Design Museum is seeking an architect and design team for its new Kensington home, at the former Commonwealth Institute

With its plans winning the backing of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and English Heritage, the Design Museum is looking for an architect (design team leader), structural engineer, mechanical & electrical engineer, CDM Coordinator and catering consultant.

The successful design team will be required to provide a fully coordinated scheme for the Museum fit out within the existing Grade II* listed Parabola building on Kensington High Street. The building will require the creation of temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, education, event, catering and retail spaces, an auditorium and associated office storage, circulation, back of house areas, plant and plant-related spaces.

According to the Design Museum, ’The completed museum will be an inspirational place that welcomes diverse audiences and is the London destination for contemporary design.’

The deadline for submission of pre-qualification questionnaires is Friday 4 December at 12 noon.
