Design Director, SOM Nicholas Jacobs

Nicholas Jacobs joined Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in 1988 and was elected design director in 1998. He is involved with all aspects of project design.

His project experience includes several buildings in the Broadgate complex in the City of London, including the Broadgate Club and One Exchange Square.

In The Netherlands, Jacobs developed the design for the headquarters of Andersen Consulting and is currently overseeing the final stages of the Philips building in the Breitner Centre. Two of Jacobs' projects have won international design competitions - the Utopia Pavilion and the Vasco da Gama telecommunications tower for Expo '98 in Portugal.

In the United States, Jacobs worked on the design of the jfk International Terminal 4, currently under construction, as well as on the headquarters for Purdue Pharma.
