Specialist developer Pocket has secured planning permission for its first venture in Westminster, designed by Darling Associates
Pocket builds ‘compact’ apartments for singles and couples earning under £60,000 a year and has worked with Darling Associates, who were named AJ100 Practice of the Year in 2009, on the design for Fermoy Road, W9.
The planning committee hailed the project’s ‘high quality of design’ and its sustainable credentials. The design features a green wall, cycle cupboards in each flat and claims to achieve Code Level 4 for sustainable homes.
The one-bedroom apartments, the largest is less than 40m², incorporate full-height windows and underfloor heating to maximise the floor space and light in the rooms. Darling Associates has also designed in ground-source heat pumps and solar walls to reduce running costs.
