Critical indigestion

Foodie A A Gill is lecturing at the Royal Academy on 1 April (tickets at £20 from 0171 300 5712). His subject is restaurants as the art galleries of the future. Perhaps he has been thinking about the Serpentine Gallery in Regents Park, once a teahouse. Colin Amery ('former architectural adviser to the Prince of Wales', according to The Times), told the paper: 'Of course they should have been allowed to include tea facilities.' The Royal Parks Agency thought otherwise. A little bird tells me Colin's sourpuss comments on John Miller's fine gallery are the result of pique - at having had his own advice on the redevelopment ignored by the Serpentine's svelte director Julia Peyton-Jones!
