Council not looking for new plans at Crystal Palace site

  • Comment

Bromley council will not be seeking new redevelopment plans for the site of the original Crystal Palace after it scrapped RHWL's scheme last week.

The council pulled the plug on the project after developer London and Regional Properties (L&R) failed to complete the details of its lease.

The council's head of community renewal, Barbara Thompson, said it was 'unlikely' the council would call for proposals in the near future.

L&R's multiplex proposal has been plagued by controversy. Plans to build on the site drew the ire of local residents and heritage conservationists, and the matter was further complicated when initial architect Ian Ritchie was replaced by RHWL (AJ 22.2.01).
