Construction needs positive portrayal

  • Comment

We are becoming increasingly concerned and annoyed about the way workers in the construction industry are portrayed in many advertisements.

While within the industry there is an appreciation of the need for workers to conform to health and safety issues, many advertisements continue to promulgate the outdated belief that all workers are members of the upper-backside-exposure brigade. While this portrayal persists we will continue to have problems attracting quality young people to our industry because they will never look beyond the image.

Few will ever discover that construction offers some of the most varied and rewarding challenges of any career.
