TURNER CENTRE, MARGATE Visual arts centre on a seafront site associated with the artist JMW Turner. The centre is expected to cost £7 million excluding external works. Stage one asks for expressions of interest plus details of experience and design approach.

Submission deadline 20 March.

Five practices shortlisted for stage two will each receive a £10,000 honorarium. CORUS STUDENT COMPETITION Proposals requested for a theme for the next World Expo and designs for a British Pavilion, on a site of student's own choice.

HOLISTIC HOTELS Ideas competition to influence thinking on hotels. The competition will address sustainable development issues raised by new build on a real urban site near Cardiff.

SUSTAINABLE SCHOOLS Ideas competition that will address issues raised by new build on a real urban site. The competition is aimed at raising awareness of sustainable and low-energy school buildings.

Deadline 28 February.
