Refurbishment project at the Victoria and Albert Museum, an ideas contest for the Brussels Courthouse and a photography competition run by Zumtobel; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions
The Victoria and Albert Museum needs an architect to mastermind the refurbishment of its Cast Courts (pictured), which house its collection of plaster cast reproductions. Work on the project is to include: restoring original architectural features, repairing damaged areas of the roof, ceiling and walls, and creating new displays of smaller scale casts not currently on show. Tenders must be received by 27 August.
The Belgian Buildings Agency has launched an international ideas contest for the Brussels Court House and surrounding Poelaert Square. Architects should submit their vision of the modernisation of the nineteenth-century courthouse. Prizes totalling €60,000 will be awarded to three prize winners and submissions can be made until 15 October.
The Zumtobel Photographic Competition returns for 2010. Register online to receive a free disposable camera, then snap away and send it back to Zumtobel for developing. Three winners will receive vouchers for photographic equipment and all shortlisted entries will receive a framed copy of their winning photograph. The deadline for entries is 1 October.
