Regenerating Ballymena Bus and Rail station, a new arts centre inside York guildhall and a mixed-use development in Poznań. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Northern Ireland’s transport authority, Translink is seeking an architect for a £6 million overhaul of Ballymena Bus and Rail Station. The winning team will replace the County Antrim town’s existing train station and nearby bus terminal with a new ‘highly aesthetic’ integrated facility of ‘great architectural merit’. [Deadline for requests to participate 20 April]

City of York Council is on the hunt for an architect for a £9.23 million overhaul of its historic guildhall. The winning team will transform the iconic waterside building into a new digital media arts centre – planned to open in 2018 – featuring a restaurant, bar, offices and an outdoor public space. [Deadline for requests to participate 10 April]

The City of Poznań and Polish State Railways have launched an international design competition for a new mixed-use urban development. The proposed ‘Tereny Wolnych Torów’ district – featuring housing, offices, retail and green spaces – will occupy 100 hectares of disused railway tracks close to Poznan’s main station. [Deadline for registration 31 March]
