King’s College London quadrangle, a temporary theatre in Cardiff, a Manchester office redevelopment and London’s Morley College. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The RIBA has launched a £20 million competition to redesign King’s College London’s main quadrangle (pictured). Up to five practices are expected to be shortlisted with each receiving a £5,000 (+VAT) honorarium [The deadline for expressions of interest is 1 June]

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama is seeking temporary theatre proposals to be built in Cardiff as part of the World Stage Design 2013 festival in Cardiff. Structures must seat a minimum 100 people, be weather-tight, soundproof and cost less than £20,000. [Submissions must be received by 1 March 2013]

The West Midlands Metropolitan Authorities Pension Fund is on the hunt for architects to design a 23,000m² office development in Manchester. Architects with ‘experience and flair’ are sought to transform the existing strategic brief into a completed design. [Expressions of interest to be received by 8 May]

London’s Morley College is in need of an experienced practice to work on the phased extension, remodelling and refurbishment of its base in Waterloo. The £5 million project will be developed up to RIBA Stage C to support a funding bid. All subconsultants are expected to be appointed by the architect. [Expressions of interest should be received by 11 May]
