Northern Ireland’s integrated bus and rail public transport company Translink has launched a contest to design a new £100 million transport hub for Belfast. The scheme will double the capacity of the existing facilities, allowing the hub to handle 13 million users a year by 2030. The 80,000m² site currently houses the Europa Bus centre and Great Victoria Street Railway Station. Teams will be asked to draw up a masterplan of the surrounding area as a mixed use development. Interested parties will be shortlisted on responses with selected parties tendering. [Expressions of interest are due 20 August]
The Brooklands Museum in Weybridge is looking for a design team to deliver its Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Race Track Revival Project.
Works at the home of Concorde and the ‘birthplace of British motorsport and aviation’ include relocating and conserving the listed 1,675m² Bellman Hangar together with the design of a new 1,100m² exhibition facility. The project is understood to have secured £7 million in lottery funding.A lead consultant is called for providing architectural, structural and landscape design services alongside conservation and CDM professionals. Croatia’s port of Rijeka Authorityhas launched an international ideas contest for the future of the city’s Delta and Porto Baros area. Entrants are tasked with devising a ‘distinctive city landmark’ retaining existing structures and geographic features along the waterfront. Teams selected for the top three positions must collaborate with a locally registered designer to claim a share of the £23,000 prize fund.[Submissions are due 22 October]
