A visitor centre for Denmark’s Trelleborg Viking fort, renovating the Brighton Dome and an open call for architects in Flanders. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The Danish Architects’ Association has launched a design competition for a £7.5 million visitor centre next to the ancient Trelleborg Viking fort at Slagelse.Five teams will be shortlisted for the 2,500m² venue telling the ‘fascinating story of Viking warriors and the times they lived in.’The competition language is Danish. Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking an architect to deliver an £18 million overhaul of its Brighton Dome concert venue. Planned to complete in 2018, the project will upgrade a number of Grade I and II-listed spaces inside the historic building. [Deadline for requests to participate 13 May]

The Flemish Government Architect has launched its biannual ‘open call’ for architects to complete a raft of public schemes. This year’s international competitions include a £108 million hospital regeneration in Turnhout, a new transport hub and a city park in Genk. The programme’s official language is Dutch.
