Restoring Glasgow’s Burrell Collection, regenerating Tipner and Horsea Islands in Portsmouth and redeveloping Preston’s markets.  The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Glasgow City Council is on the hunt for a project manager-led design team to regenerate its Grade A-listed Burrell Collection. Planned to complete in 2019, the project will restore and expand the landmark Barry Gasson, John Meunier and Brit Andresen-designed building which currently suffers from water ingress. Portsmouth City Council is on the hunt for a masterplanner to overhaul Tipner and Horsea islands.The two islands – located north west of the coastal city – are earmarked for major redevelopment as part of a ‘City Deal’ initiative intended to boost economic growth in the region. [Deadline for requests to participate 24 September]

Preston City Council is on the hunt for an architect to regenerate its historic markets complex. Planned to complete in 2017, the project will create a new indoor market beneath two Grade II-listed canopies and replace a 1960s indoor market with a new cinema and retail.
