An open international design competition has been launched for the £16 million overhaul of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) Arena in Ireland. Organised by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, the two-stage contest will select a ‘signature’ design to boost capacity at the Leinster Rugby home ground from 18,500 to 25,000 [Registration closes 8 September]

Birmingham City University (BCU) is on the hunt for an architect to design a new home for its School of Education and Faculty of Health. The proposed building is the third phase of BCU’s new 5.49 hectare City South Campus in Edgbaston [Deadline for requests to participate 7 August]

The Glasgow Institute of Architects has launched an ideas competition to create a new meeting place inside the Category A-listed Springburn Winter Gardens. The contest seeks to raise awareness of plans to restore the decaying landmark and digitally printed 3D models of all entries will feature in an exhibition [Registration closes 15 August]
