A world heritage centre in Edinburgh, transforming Bristol’s old magistrates court into a youth centre and a new hospital in north west Norway. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The RIAS has launched a contest to reinvent Edinburgh’s Category A-listed Tron Kirk. The £5 million project – backed by local charity Edinburgh World Heritage (EWH) – will create a new world heritage centre inside the 17th Century Royal Mile landmark. Improved landscaping in nearby Hunter Square will also be required. [Deadline for requests to participate 12 May]

Creative Youth Network (CYN) is on the hunt for an architect to overhaul Bristol’s Grade II-listed Bridewell Island Magistrates Courts. The winning team will transform the deteriorating 5,600m² building into a new youth centre featuring arts facilities, a skate park, climbing area and education facilities. [Deadline for requests to participate 22 April]

Norway’s hospital building agency Sykehusbygg is on the hunt for an architect for a new 80,000m² hospital in Møre og Romsdal. Planned to complete in 2019, the new £480 million facility will replace two existing hospitals in Kristiansund and Molde. [Deadline for applications 12 May]
