The Philippines has launched a design competition for a pair of flagship affordable housing schemes on its 9,450 hectare Clark Green City masterplan (pictured). The contest seeks proposals for two separate housing zones within the 254 hectare first phase of the enormous development, north of Manila. [deadline for registration 5 June]

The German state of Hesse has launched a design contest for a new £18 million central library and archive at the University of Giessen. The ‘modern and forward-looking’ facility will host around 620,000 volumes which are currently spread across seven libraries on the university’s culture and humanities campus. [Deadline for requests to participate 1 June]

Iceland is seeking an architect for a £170 million overhaul of its National University Hospital in Reykjavik. Planned to complete in 2019, the project will upgrade the hospital’s 58,500 m² main building which hosts clinical areas and inpatient wards. Teams must include designers registered in Iceland.
