A new St Albans museum, upgrading Swords Castle in Ireland and regenerating Agnew Park in Stranraer. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

St Albans City and District Council is seeking an architect to transform its Grade II*-listed Old Town Hall into a new museum and gallery. The £6.75 million project will relocate an existing museum on Hatfield Road covering 2,000 years of St Albans history to the George Smith-designed landmark which first opened in 1826 [Deadline for requests to participate 2 July]

Fingal County Council in Ireland is on the hunt for an architect to upgrade Swords Castle and its surrounding area. The winning team will create an architectural and cultural masterplan for the district around the 800 year-old former residence of the Archbishop of Dublin which is still undergoing restoration [Deadline for expressions of interest 27 June]

Dumfries and Galloway Council is on the lookout for an architect to regenerate Agnew Park in Stranraer. The project will enlarge the seaside green space, upgrade existing leisure facilities and extend the coastal pathway up to nearby Stranraer Harbour where ferries connect Scotland to Belfast [Deadline for requests to participate 7 July]
