A maritime training institute at Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Gwynedd Council’s town centre regeneration framework and AECOM’s international student competition; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (pictured) has launched a design competition for an 1,858m2 hospitality and maritime training institute. The contract for the design of four buildings, including an administration complex and student hostel, is worth 300,000 euros. The deadline for applications is 31 May.

Gwynedd Council is on the hunt for an architect for its design framework on town centre environmental and regeneration projects in Bangor and Caernarfon. The £350,000 contract includes design of resurfacing works, public transport improvements and cycle and pedestrian routes. The deadline for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 7 June.

AECOM has launched its international Urban SOS: Transformations student competition. It seeks creative, viable proposals for sites in a range of cities such as Jeddah, Beijing, São Paulo and Johannesburg. Five semi-finalists will present their ideas to a jury at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in November. The top prize is US$20,000 and the deadline for submissions is 31 July.
