A new bridge for Nine Elms in London, a flood training centre in Grimsby and masterplanning open spaces at Adidas’ headquarters. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Wandsworth Council has launched an international design competition for a new bridge across the River Thames at Nine Elms in central London. Four shortlisted teams will receive £12,000 each to develop concept designs for the pedestrian and cycle crossing which will connect Kieran Timberlake’s new US Embassy to nearby Pimlico [Deadline for requests to participate 13 January]

The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is on the hunt for an architect for a new £3 million flood rescue training centre. The Grimsby facility – known as The Ark – will feature a large simulator tank for training emergency crews from the region which saw 1,100 homes and hundreds of businesses flooded last year [Deadline for requests to participate 30 January]

Adidas Group has launched an ideas contest to masterplan the open spaces on its World of Sports Campus in Herzogenaurch, Germany. Teams featuring landscape architects and architects are invited to submit proposals to transform the 59 hectare headquarters into a ‘high-quality space which can be collectively experienced’ [Deadline for applications 16 January]
