Expanding Gladstone’s Library, redeveloping Lancaster University’s management school and a new postgraduate centre for the University of Edinburgh. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Gladstone’s Library in northeast Wales is on the hunt for an architect for a £4 million regeneration and expansion. Planned to complete in 2020, the project will restore the Grade I-listed building – which hosts books collected by Victorian prime minister William Gladstone – and create a new extension. The RIBA has launched an international competition to redevelop Lancaster University’s management school. Planned to complete in 2019, the 18,000m² project will create ‘world-class and innovative’ teaching and research facilities for the school. Five shortlisted teams will receive £10,000 each to submit designs. [Deadline for requests to participate 30 June]

The University of Edinburgh is on the lookout for an architect for a £4 million overhaul of the Old Kirk on Holyrood Road. Planned to complete in 2017, the project will create a new postgraduate study centre inside the Category B-listed 1882 building. [Deadline for requests to participate 29 June]
