A new play space in Dublin, Leicester’s railway heritage museum and upgrading Fort Amhurst in Chatham. The editor’s pick of this week’s leading competitions

The Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF) has launched an international design competition for a new £220,000 play space in Ballyfermot, Dublin. Planned to complete in 2016, the project will deliver an ‘innovative and ground-breaking’ new play space and skate park in Le Fanu Park. [Deadline for applications 23 October]

Leicester City Council is seeking a design team for its new £17 million Main Line Museum. Planned to complete in 2019, the project will create a new exhibition space for the Great Central Railway which operates steam trains between Loughborough and Birstall. [Deadline for requests to participate 28 October]

Medway Council is searching for an architect for a £2 million upgrade of the area surrounding historic Fort Amhurst in Chatham. Planned to complete in 2018, the ‘Command of the Heights’ project will improve access to the fortifications which were built to protect nearby Chatham Dockyard from French invasion. [Deadline for applications 22 October]
