A masterplan for Seattle’s waterfront, the refurbishment of Bethlem Royal Hospital and public realm for the Co-operative Group in Manchester; this week’s round-up of top competitions

The US city of Seattle is seeking a design team to deliver one of the most significant civic projects in its history: the redevelopment of the central waterfront (pictured). Seattle will commission a framework to better connect the waterfront to the city. Works will include more than 3.5 hectares of new public space, a new street and the provision of services. The deadline for tenders is 4 August.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is looking for architects with experience in the design of secure accommodation in a mental-health context to deliver its four-year, £300,000-600,000 construction and refurbishment project at the Bethlem Royal Hospital. Tenders must be received by 26 July.

The AJ can exclusively reveal that the Co-operative Group, with Manchester City Council, is seeking an architect to design the entire public realm for its eight-hectare headquarters development. The winning team will create detailed, costed designs for the early-phase works, and deliver a vision and a materials palette for future phases.
