Club sandbag

Awonderful story in the Sunday Times colour supplement details how rows, threats, intimidatory letters and general furore have afflicted the poor old RAC club over its plans to destroy the wonderful Turkish baths in its Pall Mall premises. English heritage seems happy to go along with the vandalism, Westminster council invited the club to think again about its designs and so on.The real heroes in the story? Ed Jones, Julyan Wickham and David Chipperfield. Nice to see radicals belong to a toffs' club, of course, and nicer to see them standing up to their own building committee and telling them the designs are rotten. Keep at it chaps!
