Civic Trust Awards 2011 finalists unveiled

  • Comment

The 57 projects shortlisted for this year’s Civic Trust Awards have been revealed

Chosen from 333 national and international entries, the selected projects are now in the running for the Civic Trust Awards’ 6 special prizes.

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony in March presented by architect and TV presenter George Clarke with Civic Trust Awards managing director Malcolm Hankey.

A keynote speech will be delivered by RIBA president-elect Angela Brady. She said: ‘I am proud to have been involved with the Civic Trust Awards for over 10 years.

‘They continue to be the only awards that reach into the heart of the local community so that each award is not only judged on its design merit but on its positive contribution to local community. You could say they are well placed to be the awards for “Localism” in its true meaning.’

This year’s finalists include: Caruso St John’s Chiswick House Café in Hounslow, London; Ellis Williams’ Mostyn Gallery in Conwy, Wales; Rick Mather’s Ashmolean museum in Oxford and Hopkins’ Nottingham Trent University project in Nottingham.
