Chris Dyson bags planning for revamp of 1960s block

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] Chris Dyson Architects has won planning permission for the refurbishment of a 1960s apartment block in Putney, south-west London

The Spitalfields-based conservationist practice has proposed a two-storey rear extension to the 1960s Kersfield House, which is to be fully refurbished to provide 66 apartments.

The five-storey structure will be re-clad and receive a new entrance canopy. The building’s redundant spaces will also be converted for amenity use.

Chris Dyson, director of the practice, said: ‘Working with a 1960s block presents a number of challenges - we are excited and proud to have been given the opportunity to bring a fine building back to life.

‘It shows that we can work on a large scale and with a wide range of building types. In doing so, we remain faithful to our core practice principles of utmost respect for a building’s heritage and setting, thoughtful contemporary interventions and high-quality interior design.’

The scheme includes a landscaped English country garden.
